New chair for Cove and Kilcreggan Community Council

A new chair has been appointed for Cove and Kilcreggan Community Council, replacing Nick Davies who first took office 15 years ago.

John Auld, a farmer who is a longstanding community councillor, was voted into office at the AGM last night.

Apart from a brief break in 2021-22, Mr Davies, a former Royal Navy captain,  has been chair of the community council since 2008 but decided to step back after many years at the helm.

At the end of last night’s meeting in Cove Burgh Hall he was thanked for his service by Rev Christine Murdoch and received a round of applause.

And Argyll and Bute Council provost Maurice Corry said: “On behalf of Argyll and Bute can I just thank you for everything you have done, you are an exemplary chair.”

Ali Mills is now vice-chair, with Sheelagh O’Reilly and Sheena Edwards continuing as secretary and treasurer respectively.
