Cruise line calls at Rhu

Rhu Marina welcomed MV Silverseas Endeavour yesterday on the cruise line’s first visit to the Gareloch.

Passengers came ashore at Rhu Marina in Zodiac boats and the sea was like a millpond in the glorious sunshine.

Nearly 100  guests were welcomed by Destination Helensburgh, who have been working with the cruise excursion company, and John  Low of Helensburgh Clan Colquhoun pipe band piped them ashore.

The visitors went on various trips including three fully-booked walking tours with John and Anne Urquhart from the Hill House over the Highlandman’s Road to Rhu and Glenarn garden.

Wilsons of Rhu also operated a shuttle bus into the town and on excursions to Luss, Cashel forest and Glasgow.  Many of the passengers also visited the Hill House.

Silverseas hope to return to the Gareloch next year with two or three cruises visiting the area.
