River City star will feature at Cove and Kilcreggan 10K

River City star Joyce Falconer (right)will act as starter for the first-ever Cove and Kilcreggan 10K run and walk.

Joyce, who plays Roisin McIntyre in the BBC soap, will also present medals and trophies at the end.

The event is on Sunday June 4 at 2pm for runners and 1pm for walkers – there are still some places, as although the walk was sold out some more places have become available.

Organiser Roni Ferguson said: “It will be a great run round the peninsula, mixed terrain so it is never dull, great scenery and a slice of healthy fun.

“Maybe another famous face or two in the crowd – who knows, you will have to enter to find out!”

There is still time to sign up here.

Organisers hope as many people as possible will use public transport – a scheduled bus leaves Helensburgh at 12 noon and runs every two hours.

The run is for 17 year-olds and upwards and the minimum age for the walk is eight.

Entry for the run is £20 for an adult or £18 for Scottish Athletic Members and the walk is £15 for adults, £5 for children.

Parking will be on Shore Road and at Cove Sailing Club.

Registration is from 12 noon, with tea, coffee and cakes for sale.
