Hill House café shortlisted for award

The café at Helensburgh’s Hill House has been shortlisted for a national award.

Situated on the first floor of the new visitor centre in the award-winning ‘box’ which surrounds Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s masterpiece, the café opened in June 2019. Its interior aims to reflect Mackintosh’s style, with dark, oak-stained wood and atmospheric lighting.

It also features a roof terrace with views across the Firth of Clyde to Arran – sheltered by the box.

The café is shortlisted in the 2023 Museums and Heritage Awards, together with The Weston at Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Dulwich Picture Gallery, Derby’s Museum of Making and the Museum of North Craven Life.

The winners will be announced at a live ceremony on May 10.
