Public workshops in Cove and Kilcreggan’s Our Community project

Over 350 people have completed a survey to help shape the future of Cove and Kilcreggan.

And now public workshops are being held in the next stage of the £170,000 project.

The villages’ Our Community local place plan project launched a survey last month asking people what they value in the area, if there is enough housing, what means of transport should be the focus, how jobs could be created and how tourism could be supported.

Feedback on the survey will be presented at an online workshop next Monday evening and an in-person event the following Saturday.

Cove and Kilcreggan Community Council and Rosneath Peninsula West Community Development Trust, with £170,000 funding from CEIS, aim to draw up a masterplan for the future of the villages and commissioned SKS Scotland to organise public engagement as the first part of this.

Community council chair Nick Davies said: “The survey’s high response rate is a great reflection on how keen people are to give their input and get involved in future potential projects that could impact their way of life.

“We’d really encourage everyone to either attend next week’s workshops on-line or in-person to hear emerging themes and help shape the future of our area.”

The workshops will also focus on some of the emerging themes from the survey, asking participants for ideas on what potential projects they’d like to see fed into the Local Place Plan and progressed over the next couple of years.

The online workshop will be from 7pm to 8pm on Monday and can be booked via this Eventbrite link.

Then an event will be held in Cove Burgh Hall from 11am and 1pm on Saturday February 25 – anyone wishing to attend is asked to register via this Eventbrite link.
