Have your say on the future of Cove and Kilcreggan

A new survey will give their chance to have a say on the future of Cove and Kilcreggan.

‘Our Community’ is the project name for the villages’ new local place plan, and the survey is available online, as well as being delivered to all homes in Cove and Kilcreggan.

It asks people what they value in their community, if there is enough housing, what means of transport should be the focus, how jobs could be created and how tourism can be supported.

Among the options suggested for leisure and recreation facilities are:

  • Creating a village green
  • A slipway to improve access to the water
  • Improved access to the beach
  • Moorings for leisure craft
  • Improved cycle and walking routes
  • And more community hall space

The project is being run by the villages’ community council, together with Rosneath Peninsula West Community Development Trust.

Steering group chair Alistair Lamont said: “We want ‘Our Community’ to reflect the views and opinions of as many people as possible, so that all our needs are heard and prioritised to help build a well-considered plan and enable a strong link to future place planning.

“It should only take ten minutes of your time, but will really help understand your needs, any concerns, and future priorities and visions for Cove and Kilcreggan.”

The trust and community council, with £170,000 funding from CEIS, aim to draw up a masterplan for the future of the villages and have commissioned SKS Scotland to carry out a community survey as the first part of this.

The survey closes on February 10. Paper copies can be returned to Kilcreggan Post Office or Cove Burgh Hall.

More information is available on the community council’s newly-launched website.
