Kilcreggan gallery returns for Christmas show

With seven new artists and plenty of returning favourites, The Porch Gallery in Kilcreggan is back for its second birthday show.

The Christmas exhibition – Yuletide Sparkle – will run from Friday November 25 to Sunday December 11 bringing together almost 30 artists and makers from across the local area and beyond. It takes place at Templeton Cottage in School Road, in the home of owner Fiona Holland.

From paintings to textiles, ceramics to glass, jewellery to wooden items, and cards to decorations, it promises to be bright and vibrant, with great talent on show.

Newcomers include Rosie Montgomery from Cardross with Fair Isle knits, jewellery by Helensburgh’s Judith Garrity, and ceramic work from Eilidh Guthrie of Kilcreggan.

“I can’t believe the gallery will be two years old this time,” said Fiona.

“It started out in the depths of Covid restrictions in November 2020 and I thought it would probably just be a one-off.

“It’s really thanks to such great support from both the artists and the visitors that we’re still here and still popping up.

“We will be packed to the gunwales with all manner of amazing work and there really is something to suit even the tightest of squeezed budgets. It’s a really difficult time for us all and I can only hope that people will come out and support local makers and the gallery itself.”

There will also be fundraising on the go, too, with proceeds going to the RNLI.

The launch on Friday (November 25) is 2.30-7.30pm and visitors can enjoy a glass of wine while they browse.

The gallery thereafter is open Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays until December 11 inclusive, from 12 noon to 5.30pm.
