Drivers are being asked to avoid School Road in Kilcreggan after a large hole appeared this morning.
It is though that a collapsed drain is responsible, and the hole is worsening by the the hour.
Police Scotland have closed the road and Argyll & Bute Council have been asked to attend.
School Road is frequently hit by flooding in wet weather – as seen below in 2014 – and both the council and Scottish Water have tried in vain to address the problem in recent years.
