Exhibition time for Helensburgh Art Club

Helensburgh Art Club’s annual exhibition will open to the public next weekend.

One of the highlights of the town’s calendar, the event in the Victoria Halls will see a wide range of work by local artists on display.

Hundreds of works of art will be on display, most of them available to buy.

The exhibition will run from Saturday August 6  to the following Saturday (August 13) and will be open from 10am to 5pm, closing an hour earlier on the final day.

It will also feature the Mary Batchelor Seascape Award, in memory of a distinguished artist who was a long-standing member of Helensburgh Art Club.

Her husband Chas Batchelor decided last year to make an award in her name and the prize will also now feature a highly-commended work, as well as the overall winner – the winner will be chosen by judges from the numerous entries.

“Mary’s work was always part of Helensburgh Art Club’s exhibitions and she was always proud to be a member,” said Chas.

“This seemed like a fitting way to continue her memory and I’m looking forward to seeing all the talent on display.”
