Argyll and Bute ‘business ambassadors’ sought

‘Business ambassadors’ for Argyll and Bute are being sought in a new initiative.

The council is looking for businesses who would showcase their work and help promote the area’s Scotland Loves Local card scheme.

Over 100 businesses across Argyll and Bute are currently signed up to accept the cards, including restaurants, hotels, gift shops and tourist attractions.

As part of a marketing campaign, business ambassadors will feature in a short promotional film to help raise awareness of the card and their own business.

Guidance on how to run simple online campaigns will also be available.

Robin Currie, policy lead for the economy and rural growth, said: “We’re continually exploring ways to boost the local economy and assist our communities in recovering from the impact of the pandemic.

“The Argyll and Bute card is a terrific initiative which gives us all the opportunity to support our fantastic businesses by spending locally.

“The response from companies of all sizes and sectors across Argyll and Bute has been extremely encouraging and we’re keen to sign up as many business ambassadors as possible.

“This will not only help to further boost the success of the gift card and support new jobs but it’s also a great opportunity to showcase the area and the great local businesses we have to offer.”

Businesses can join the marketing campaign whether they have already registered to accept the card or are still to sign up.

To register interest contact Investinargyll@argyll-bute.gov.uk by 5pm on Friday August 12.

The Argyll and Bute Card is part of the wider Scotland Loves Local campaign to encourage people to spend in their own area to help the region’s businesses and support local employment.

The cards are available to buy from scotlandgiftslocal.com/product/argyll-bute-gift-card and businesses can register to accept the card at www.lovelocal.scot/giftcard .
