Future thinking for hospitality businesses

Hospitality and visitor experience businesses throughout Argyll and Bute are being offered a chance to map the sector’s future.

The Serving the Future Programme is a research collaboration between the Robertson Trust, Poverty Alliance, Fraser of Allander Institute and Inspiring Children’s Futures.

It isare looking to work with staff and management working in the hospitality and visitor experience business throughout Argyll and Bute and Glasgow, to help them prepare for future challenges and build resilience.

Employment learning officer Andy Sharp said: “We are looking forward to working with a diverse number of businesses and the aim is to help businesses to try to address some of the pressing challenges around staffing and business sustainability.

“We’ll ask participants to re-imagine the future of the industry in Scotland. They will work with industry peers to generate grounded solutions to in-work proverty to take into your business leading to greater sustainability of employment and business success.”

He added: “The benefits for businesses taking part will include improved business planning, improved recruitment and retention, greater business agility, building leadership capacity and access to CPD courses at Strathclyde University.

“They will also gain insights into developing soft skills and on how to enhance the reputation of their business. And staff taking part should benefit from greater certainty over employment, opportunities to shape their work, improve their career prospects, enjoy improved morale and motivation, less in-work proverty in the industry as well improved relationships with management.”

The first in-person session is scheduled for September 20 in Glasgow and businesses wanting to take part need to confirm their interest by August 25.

it is hoped that they will be able to confirm those businesses involved no later than Monday, September 5.
