A photographer from Clynder has been recognised in the Master Photographers’ Association (MPA) 2022 regional awards.

Gordon Russell was awarded one merit and one finalist titles.

Over 1,000 photographs were entered into the MPA regional awards from a worldwide membership of professional photographers.

Entrants compete within their respective geographic areas and have to score highly for both creativity and technical skill, with.each image was scrutinised by three judges, each one of them a ‘fellow’ of the MPA.

Gordon said: “I was overjoyed to be one of only two photographers to make it to the final of the pet category and the judges’ comments on my image were very complimentary.

“I thoroughly enjoy what I do and this recognition for my work makes it so worthwhile.”

The Master Photographers’ Association was founded in 1952 and its main purpose is to train, mentor, and qualify professional photographers across all disciplines.

Chairman Ray Lowe said: “The standard of photography we have seen this year is outstanding.

“Despite the reduced opportunities for shooting due to the pandemic our members have once again proved that they are at the top of their game by producing world-class work.”

This year the announcements were made virtually via a live-streamed video link to all members with live participation from the winners as they received their distinctions.
