After being suddenly interrupted back in May, Kilcreggan’s Porch Gallery will return this week.
The gallery’s spring show was curtailed when owner Fiona Holland caught Covid-19 after just one week of the exhibition’s run.
The Porch Gallery reboot begins on Thursday (June 9) and continues until June 19 at Templeton Cottage, School Road in Kilcreggan – G84 0HR for satnav.
“I was absolutely devastated when I had to cancel the remainder of the Spring Colours show,” said Fiona.
“But there was nothing else I could do. I felt terrible for all the artists who had put their trust in me, and all our lovely visitors, many of whom had arranged to come round. And I was so worried in case anyone had contracted it from visiting us.
“It was just so disappointing.
“But I decided to continue the run and bring the gallery back as soon as I was able.
“I’ve had great support from my amazing artists, all of whom are returning for our Spring into Summer show.
“And a number of them have given me new works, which allows me to refresh the displays and is rather exciting. These include gallery favourites like Joyce Borland from Cardross, and Helensburgh’s Mary McDonald and Maeve Dixon.
“So there are plenty of new items to see – I just hope that our lovely customers will return to see us and that new visitors will pop in for the first time to support the artists, makers and gallery.”
The Spring into Summer show hours are Thursday and Friday (June 9 and 10) 2pm-7.30pm, Saturday June 11, 6.30-9pm, Sunday June 12 1-5.30pm, Monday June 13 closed, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (June 14-16) 1-4.30pm, and Friday, Saturday and Sunday (June 17-19) 12 noon to 5.30pm.
The gallery has already raised £200 for the RNLI and two charities working with Ukrainian refugees by auctioning an original work by Fiona Kilgore, and there will be further fundraising efforts to boost this total during this continuation.
