Peninsula Choir back in full voice

The Peninsula Choir has made a successful return to the stage – with a Ukrainian theme.

The concert earlier this month was the choir’s first public appearance since Moira Frize-Williams became its new musical director.

The concerts in 2020 and 2021 were cancelled due to Covid but with restrictions now passing, the choir plans to build and go from strength to strength.

The programme opened and closed with a moving rendition of Tebye Poyem, by the Ukrainian composer Dmitry Bortniansky, sung in solidarity with the people of Ukraine.

Half of the donations for entry to the concert will go to a Ukrainian support charity.

As well as the choir singing, the audience were entertained by songs from Siân Winstanley, Moira Frize-Williams and Kristina Frize-Williams plus piano solos from Ruby Cathro and a poem from Gwyn Arnold called New Beginnings.

The choir hope to hold  a Christmas concert in December and rehearsals begin again in September, meeting in Cove Burgh Hall on Wednesday evenings.

New members are very welcome – no auditions necessary – and anyone interestd should email gwyn_simons@yahoo.com .
