Green-fingered workshops at Hermitage Park

Free workshops for anyone with an interest in horticulture and floristry are being held at Hermitage Park in May and June.

Angela Smith from the Royal Horticultural Society, who has a wealth of experience in community and tabletop gardening and floristry, will deliver the interactive workshops.

All workshops take place in the community room, part of the new pavilion in the Helensburgh park.

Workshops are free and suitable for adults. Places are limited and must be booked – email charlie.cairns@argyll-bute.gov.uk if you are interested in coming along.

Wednesday May 25, 7pm-8:30pm: windowsills/allotments, indoor seed sowing tips and tricks. Make and take your own mini-Eden. Growing pods of salads, herbs, and edible flowers.

Wednesday  June 1, 7pm – 8:30pm: Kokedama, a Japanese variation on Bonsai which uses moss and string to create houseplants without plastic.

Sunday June 5, 2pm-3:30pm: Floral crowns. Make and take your very own floral crown of fresh and dried flowers and foliage.

Argyll and Bute Council is offering the workshops as part of overall improvements to Hermitage Park, with support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
