Helicopter and lifeboat in Loch Long rescue

A helicopter, RNLI lifeboat and a yacht were involved in a dramatic rescue on Loch Long on Sunday.

A kite surfer got in to difficulties off Cove – a passing yacht  crewed by a man and a dog assisted.

A Coastguard helicopter hovered overhead and the Helensburgh RNLI lifeboat was called out from Rhu.

The RNLI said the lifeboat was launched early on Sunday afternoon after a report that a kite surfer was struggling to get ashore at Cove because of the offshore wind.

A yacht had taken the kite surfer in tow when the crew arrived on the scene. The surfer was transferred to the lifeboat and taken ashore at Cove.

This photograph was supplied by Margaret Isaacs, who said: “Three cheers for the RNLI – and of course the yachtsman!”
