Virtual Santa Dash planned for Helensburgh

Helensburgh’s traditional Santa Dash will go ahead again this year – but as a virtual event.

Covid-19 regulations mean that organisers Helensburgh and District Round Table could not hold the normal charity run in Helensburgh.

But instead they have organised a free event in aid of local charities, inviting the public to run 5k either on the published route in in Helensburgh or in their local area at any time between now and Christmas Eve.

They can then send in a screenshot of their completed route on a fitness app.

A round table spokesperson said: “It’s not a race so have fun with it and Santa has prizes for the best Santa, Mrs Claus, Little Claus, Baby Claus, animal Claus, hats and accessories etc.

“We will also be posting details of a treasure hunt, so stay tuned.

“Remember to be safe on the route and keep to Covid regulations when running it.”

Entry is free but donations are being accepted when runners register.

These will be split between Males Tales Helensburgh CIC and Helensburgh & Lomond Autism.

Runners can register on this event link and send photos via messenger to the club’s Facebook page.

The event is being supported by Double Six Chauffeur Limousines, Helensburgh Rugby Club, Helensburgh Netball Club, Monty’s Farm Park and Ardardan farm shop, garden nursery & tearoom.
