New temporary post office open in Arrochar on Monday

Arrochar’s post office will be in the Three Villages Hall on Mondays

A new temporary post office service will operate in Arrochar from next Monday (November 23).

The current post office closes today, but the postmaster from Crianlarich will provide a temporary outreach service in the Three Villages Hall every Monday from 9am to 2pm.

Robert Sharp, Post Office area network change manager, said: “We are pleased that the postmaster for Crianlarich will be maintaining Post Office service to Arrochar whilst we continue to look for a permanent solution.

“We know that this community will welcome this news.”

Cllr Iain Shonny Paterson, who lives in the village, said residents were keen to see the post office retained and the Monday service would be ‘invaluable’, especially for people who don’t use online services.

“We would like to see it operating more frequently and maybe that will happen once there has been a permanent solution found,” he added.

“Post offices are one off the integral parts of a community that provides so much, and it is sad to see the demise of so many in our rural communities.”

Tarbet’s post office closed last year, while Cove and Clynder have both lost their post offices in recent years.
