Victim of fatal crash near Cardross named by police

The cyclist who died in an accident near Cardross yesterday has been named by police.

Colin McCourt, aged 40 and from Dumbarton, was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident on the A814, half a mile west of Cardross

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following the crash, which involved Mr McCourt and a car.

A spokesman said tonight: “A number of vehicles stopped to provide assistance and police are asking any of those witnesses, who have yet to speak to police, to contact them.

“In particular, officers are appealing for anyone with dash cam to check their footage as it may have captured footage which could assist our enquiries.”

The road between Cardross and Helensburgh was closed for several hours as crash scene investigators conducted enquiries.

Anyone with information is asked to call road policing officers via 101, quoting incident number 2367 of 10 November, 2020.

A 44-year-old man was arrested in connection with road traffic offences and appeared at Dumbarton Sheriff Court today.
