Arrochar and Tarbet roadworks to start on Monday

Roadworks on the A83 between Tarbet and Arrochar are due to start on Monday.

BEAR Scotland says the project will cost £200,000 and take eight weeks, aiming to improve drainage and upgrade pavements.

the road will remain open, but there will be traffic lights and pedestrians will have to be escorted through the site by contractors.

Both the pavement and carriageway will be widened by 50cms over a 500m section of the road between Tarbet and Arrochar.

Access to properties will be maintained for the duration of the works.

Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s north west representative, said: “The third phase of drainage improvements will help ensure any excess water on the A83 is drained away from the carriageway effectively, helping to improve road safety.

“The footway upgrades will also improve the pedestrian facilities on this section of the A83, by removing the grass strip to widen the footway by around 50cms.

“Our teams will do all they can to complete the project as quickly and safely as possible.

“We thank road users and pedestrians for their patience in advance and encourage them to plan ahead by checking the Traffic Scotland website for real-time journey information.”
