Rest and Be Thankful reopens again

The main A83 at the Rest and Be Thankful has reopened this morning, ten days after its latest closure following a landslide during heavy rain.

Contractors BEAR Scotland say the decision was made after a safety inspection with geotechnical specialists and Police Scotland.

Traffic lights are in place and engineers are still carrying out ‘mitigation work’ in Glen Croe.

The trunk road was closed on August 4 by a huge landslide and remained out of action until September 6, closing again on September 13.

The single track Old Military Road was in use for much of the time during the latest closure.
