New colour scheme planned for Helensburgh’s Imperial Hotel

A landmark building on Helensburgh’s seafront could get a new colour scheme.

Metro Inns Ltd have applied for planning and listed building permission to change the appearance of the Imperial Hotel on West Clyde Street.

The frontage would be coloured in a shade called Inchyra Blue, produced by upmarket Farrow and Ball paintmakers.

And the existing upvc windows would be replaced, with new signs and window boxes added.

A supporting statement submitted to Argyll and Bute Council by architect Martin McMullen says: “The clients seek to refresh the hotel’s elevation with a new paint and signage scheme inspired by historical photos of the hotel but an updated modern take with the addition of window boxes to bring the elevation to life.”

Full details are available on the council’s website – the reference number is 20/01106/PP.
