Classic car rally coming to Cove and Kilcreggan

A cavalcade of classic cars will be driving from Helensburgh and around the Rosneath Peninsula on Saturday.

A wide range of cars owned by members of the Scottish Western Thoroughbred Vehicle Club will be taking part in the event, which starts in Helensburgh at around 11.30am.

The route will follow the coast road through Garelochhead, Clynder and Rosneath before passing Kilcreggan pier between approximately 12.30 and 12.45.

From there the cars will head to Cove and Coulport on the B833 and make a return trip through Cove and Kilcreggan at around 2pm before heading along Barbour Road to enjoy the views.

David Morgan, who is a familiar sight around Kilcreggan as he drives his 1928 Austin Tourer Heavy 12, helped to organise the event.

He also has a saloon version of the Austin Tourer, a 1927 Rolls Royce Tourer, and a 1958 Austin A35,.

Because of Covid-19 the cars will not be able to stop, but next year a festival of cars will be hosted at Cove Burgh Hall.

It will be for all types and ages of cars and owners, aiming to provide something for everyone.

The Scottish Western Club members will be invited back to enjoy local hospitality and show off their classic cars.
