New takeaway planned for Helensburgh town centre

Plans have been lodged to convert a former flooring shop in the centre of Helensburgh into a hot food takeaway.

The site at 46 East Princes Street, near the junction with Maitland Street, was previously occupied by FMK Flooring until the business closed its doors in January.

Previously it was used by Beauty Within.

Argyll and Bute Council has now received an application from Mrs Zareeka Naveed, represented by Darren Baird Architecture, with a view to setting up a hot food takeaway.

The authority is expected to issue a decision on the plans, which also include blocking up the premises’ rear window, by the middle of September.

An application form published on in the council’s online planning portal confirms that the application is for a change of use from retail outlet to takeaway.

It is not made clear what sort of takeaway is planned for the premises, which are next door to another takeaway, the Flamingo.

Various plan drawings by architects can also be viewed on the council website by entering the code 20/01082/PP.

Darren Baird Architecture has been contacted for comment.
