Blackhill site in Helensburgh to reopen tomorrow

Helensburgh’s Blackhill recycling site will reopen tomorrow, Argyll and Bute Council has announced.

All the authority’s waste facilities closed in March when the coronavirus lockdown was announced.

A temporary site on Helensburgh pier head car park was opened on June 1, and this will close today, with the Blackhill site open for types and waste and recycling.

A council statement said today: “We have put a traffic management system in place to keep customers safe and ensure social distancing – please follow the signage and the directions of staff on site.

“Please only go if your journey is absolutely essential.

“Please be patient and stay within your car until you are directed to an unloading point.

“If the site becomes too busy it will need to close again.

“In order to keep customers and site staff safe, staff will not help you dispose of your waste. Please only bring what you can safely lift from your vehicle into the containers.

“All restrictions on the use of the site are designed to keep customers and staff safe, meaning the site can continue to operate.

“Please treat site staff with respect and understand that they are performing a difficult job in order to provide you with more waste disposal options.”

The site will be open from 9.30am to 5.30pm on weekdays and 10am to 4pm at weekends, with last entry 30 minutes before closing time unless queues mean it has rto close earlier so everyone can leave on time.

  1. I was down at the pier car park recycling point this afternoon. I joined the queue just inside the fence with the queue reaching round three sides of that large area. I wonder how the Blackhill road will cope when the dump opens tomorrow?
