‘Full lock down’ to control coronavirus demanded by Jackie Baillie

A ‘full lock down’ to control the spread of the coronavirus pandemic has been demanded by MSP Jackie Baillie.

She has everyone in her Dumbarton constituency to strictly follow Scottish and UK Government advice to stay at home.

Arrochar, Luss and Balloch were still busy with visitors at the weekend and Ms Baillie says that some pubs and hotels were still holding functions.

Official government advice is to stay at home and only go out when it is necessary to do so. Individuals should avoid socialising in groups and  stay at least two metres away from others at all times.

The public are being encouraged to stay at home even if they feel well as even if they have no symptoms they could be passing on the virus to more vulnerable people.

Ms Baillie said: “I cannot stress enough the importance of staying at home during this pandemic.

“Local residents should not be socialising and you should only be making trips to the supermarket when you are in need of necessities.

“This virus is ruthless and you can pass it on to others without you being aware that you are carrying it. For them the consequences could be fatal.

“For the sake of your own health and the health of those around you please do not go out unless you have to.

“I have called on the Scottish and UK Governments to introduce a full lock down in order to help fight the spread of Covid-19.

“It is vital that we all play our part in order to reduce the strain on our health services and to protect the most vulnerable in our communities.”
