Car charging point planned for Cove Burgh Hall

Plans for a car charging point at Cove Burgh Hall have been revealed.

The community-owned building announced this week that it would temporarily close in line with government advice to control the coronavirus epidemic.

A deep clean and maintenance programme is now under way at the hall, and the directors are also exploring an upgrade of the heating system – it is hoped that the hall will re-open as soon as it is safe to do so.

Meanwhile, a planning application has been submitted to Argyll and Bute Council for a dual car charging unit outside the hall for public use.

Last year the hall’s directors made a successful application to the Energy Savings Trust Workplace EV Charging Point Grants Scheme

Zap-map shows that currently the nearest charging points to the peninsula are at least 16 miles away, in Rhu or Arrochar.

And the grant means that the facility will be provided for the community and visitors at no cost to the hall – it may even generate a small income stream.
