Filming to close Helensburgh street next month

The main road through Helensburgh will be closed for filming for an afternoon next month.

A prohibition of traffic order has been published by Argyll and Bute Council for a section of the A814 West Clyde Street ‘to allow for filming works on or near the road’.

It will take effect on the A814 West Clyde Street  from 1pm to 6pm on Thursday March 5.

A council spokesperson said: “We can’t give any details on the filming as we run a confidential service for production companies. We will provide more detail when we are given the go-ahead.”

But last year a council report said that filming had added more than £1m to the area’s economy in the previous 12 months.

More than 40 productions had been shot in the area since the trial of a charging schedule, known as ‘Film in Argyll and Bute’, began in August 2018.

Of those, 11 have entered into a film location agreement with the council, bringing in a total of £7,805 in commercial and statutory fees.
