The A83 is now passable again at the Rest and Be Thankful after the Old Military Road diversion was opened at 11am this morning.
Over 1,000 tonnes of debris landed on the trunk road at around 3am today after a prolonged spell of heavy rain.
A spokesperson for contractors BEAR Scotland said: “Specialist teams are assessing the situation on the A83 at the moment and will begin the clear up operation when safe to do so in partnership with Forestry and Land Scotland.”
The single-track diversion route is currently operating via a convoy system.
The latest landslip is east of the area covered by debris fences and catchpits following many months of work.
Be interesting to see how much this will cost A&B Council for using the Old Military Road. That farmer was taking 1000’s last time this happened.
Why will it cost A&B Council? As a trunk road , the cost must fall to Transport Scotland.
Maybe so but in the end it will be the tax payer who pays in the end.
