Chasing Coral to be screened in Arrochar

A free screening of award-winning documentary Chasing Coral is being held in Arrochar this month.

Environmental charity project Change Works in Argyll is organising the event on Tuesday  November 19 at 6.30pm in the Three Villages Hall.

The Netflix original film follows renowned marine biologists as they try to document the devastating effects of global warming on ocean life.

Unfortunately, the effort is anything but simple, and the team battles technical malfunctions and the force of nature in pursuit of their goal – documenting the tragic transformation below the waves.

Changeworks in Argyll is a pilot project supporting households and businesses in rural communities to reduce heating and electricity costs, lower carbon emissions and reduce environmental impact.

Project officer Jamie Proudfoot said: “We’ve lost 50% of the world’s coral reefs in the last 30 years.

“There is great work being done around the world and it is within our power to make changes that will help protect our natural environment from the dangers of climate change.

“It’s not too late to change, but we need to act now, and I hope that sharing this film will inspire waves of change in Arrochar and beyond.”

The screening and refreshments are free but booking is essential.

Tickets can be reserved by visiting , calling Jamie on 01301 707183 or emailing argyll@changeworks.org.uk.

After the screening Jamie will be on hand to offer advice and support on how residents can make a difference in their community

There will also be the chance to discuss the film and meet conservation volunteers from Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park.
