Helensburgh Starbucks? Speculation dampened

The former Santander site is still empty

Starbucks has neither confirmed nor denied that it intends to open a new branch in Helensburgh.

The global coffee chain already has almost 1,000 outlets in the UK, and further expansion plans been reported in the last 12 months.

In Helensburgh there have been widespread rumours in recent weeks that Starbucks would take over the large and very prominent site on the corner of East Princes Street and Sinclair Street, which has stood empty since Santander closed its local branch in April.

But when asked for confirmation a spokesperson would only say: “We are always looking for new locations and opportunities to bring the Starbucks experience to customers in the UK, but at this time we have no news to share about specific plans in the area.”
