NME in ‘seafaring interview’ with Belle frontman on Kilcreggan ferry

Belle & Sebastian frontman Stuart Murdoch has used a trip on the Kilcreggan ferry to promote a music festival on the Mediterranean.

He was filmed aboard the Chieftain, described as ‘a plucky little vessel’ by an NME journalist who had presumably never travelled on its predecessor the Island Princess.

Murdoch told the NME that he was a frequent traveller on the ferry – ‘a ten-minute trip to a quick wilderness’ – and saw wildlife including porpoises on the Clyde.

And he walked on the Rosneath Peninsula to escape from the Glasgow grind, write songs and meditate.

He was promoting The Boaty Weekender, a waterborne festival which will leave Barcelona on a cruise ship next month, featuring artists including. Mogwai, Teenage Fanclub, Alvvays, Yo La Tengo, Camera Obscura, Honeyblood and Django Django.

The NME article is here, and video footage of the interview during the crossing from Kilcreggan to Gourock is here:
