Hilton hotel date for Parklands pupils after charity gift

Staff and pupils from Parklands School were invited to a special lunch at the Hilton Hotel in Glasgow to tell guests how charity funding has benefited them.

They were helped out hy SPIfox, launched in 1983 by a group of property and construction professionals, with the main objective of raising funds to help disadvantaged young people.

The sensory room at Parklands in Helensburgh needed refurbishment and, following a visit from SPIfox, the charity agreed to fully fund a complete overhaul of the room, costing more than £22,000.

The work was carried out in February and the children are now benefiting from lots of interactive high tech equipment, including an interactive floor mat that works alongside a variety of programmes for different abilities, as well as a fibre optic curtain, star carpet and aurora borealis tube.

Argyll and Bute Council’s policy lead for education Yvonne McNeilly said: “We want the very best start for all our young people so it’s wonderful to hear that the children at Parklands are thriving from their new sensory room.

“It’s great that the pupils were invited along to the Hilton Hotel to talk to guests about the benefits of the school’s new facilities and I would like to thank SPIfox for all their help and support.”
