Tributes to ‘caring and creative’ victim of fatal road crash

Tributes have been paid to the victim of Monday’s fatal road accident near Helensburgh.

Police confirmed today that Caroline Nelson, aged 45, died in the accident on the A818.

An Arrochar resident, Caroline worked at Parklands School for children with complex special educational needs in Helensburgh.

Today Anne Paterson, Argyll and Bute Council’s chief education officer, said: “Caroline was a much-valued member of our teaching team.

“She was caring, creative and dedicated in her work to support our young people. She will be missed greatly at Parklands School.

“We will do all we can to support her colleagues, her pupils and her family, and we will remember Caroline with fondness and gratitude.”

Caroline was driving a Vauxhall Meriva when it was involved in a collision with a Volkswagen Tiguan.

The 71 year-old driver of the VW and his 70 year-old passenger were both taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.

Police Scotland are appealing for witnesses to contact Dumbarton road policing unit by calling 101 and quoting incident number 0718 Monday 8 October 2018.

A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
