Lottery and trust awards for ENABLE and Cardross Tennis Club

Two groups in the Helensburgh area will share nearly £150,000 in Lottery and trust money, it was announce this week.

ENABLE Scotland’s Helensburgh branch and Cardross Tennis Club have both been congratulated on the awards by Dumbarton constituency MSP Jackie Baillie.

The local branch of ENABLE plans to use its grant of £94,825 to employ a new development officer who will put together a programme of support for people in the town experiencing loneliness, isolation or poor mental health.

Working with a team of volunteers they will consult with local people to shape and deliver a vision designed to help increase confidence and bring people together.

Cardross Tennis Club has received £44,843 from the SUEZ Communities Trust and will use the money to refurbish its courts.

Ms Baillie said: “An ENABLE development officer who will focus on tackling loneliness, isolation and poor mental health with be an invaluable asset to the town, and will help a great number of people.

“I work closely with ENABLE Scotland through the CPG on Learning Disability which I convene.

“I know that the work that they do in Helensburgh and across Scotland is so incredibly important and is a lifeline for so many people with learning disabilities.

“Cardross Tennis Club is right at the heart of the village and all of the staff do a fantastic job maintaining the club to the highest standard. This refurbishment will bring the club back up to its peak standard.”
