Parklands School in Helensburgh has received £9,997 from the Big Lottery Fund – it will be used for the  RaceRunner project to buy bikes for the pupils with complex special educational needs.

A new crèche has been opened at Faslane’s Sportsdrome to help mothers returning from maternity leave to raise their fitness levels.

The facility is being run by staff from the local Dinky Dolphins crèche and the First Sea Lord, Admiral Sir Philip Jones, made the official opening accompanied by Captain Craig Mearns, Captain of HMS Neptune.

“The crèche has been a long time coming and I am proud to say it is now open and being fully utilised,” said Captain Mearns.

It will be open every Tuesday and Friday from 9.15am until 11.15am.
