Proposals unveiled to redevelop the heart of Kilcreggan

Ambitious plans to redevelop the centre of Kilcreggan village went on show last month.

The second public consultation meeting was hailed as a success afterwards by Rosneath Peninsula West Community Development Trust.

Following the first exhibition in February, consultants erz put forward initial proposals which include public artwork at two locations, a promenade or boardwalk, traffic calming, a long stay car parking area and a terraced parkland or amphitheatre.

Rolf Roscher and Tom Witham from erz were again on hand in Cove Burgh Hall for two public sessions on March 24, with about 50 residents attending.

Trust director Charlotte McLean said: “There was another good turnout for the second RPWCDT public consultation day.

“It was really encouraging to see the level of engagement and how much time people were prepared to give to discussing the project.”

The initial study, which cost £10,000, was funded by the National Lottery and Argyll and Bute Council.

The initial report said that the village had unrealised potential, but was dominated by car parking, while the speed of through traffic needed to be managed and there was scope for a ‘hub’ at the pierhead.
