A former soldier who is walking the entire mainland coastline of the UK is due to arrive in the Helensburgh area today.

Sam Doyle is tackling the 7,700 mile walk to help veterans suffering for post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

He left Dumbarton this morning and together with his dog Jess will be going through Cardross and Helenbsurgh, then the Rosneath Peninsula.

So far he has raised over £4,000 via his Justgiving page – in total he will visit 283 towns as he travels clockwise around Britain, camping overnight and relying on his armed forces survival training.

His walk is aid of PTSD Resolution, a registered charity which aims to resolve military trauma for UK armed forces and their families, offering confidential counselling and a nationwide network of therapists – the service is free to UK veterans.
