MoD Police spot checks now under way on Rosneath Peninsula

A new system of spot checks for drivers on MoD land is now in place, a meeting heard last week.

As revealed here, Ministry of Defence Police said in October that they would be stepping up their activity across the Rosneath Peninsula, on public land as well as sites owned by the MoD.

And last week’s meeting of Cove and Kilcreggan Community Council heard that the approach, partly intended as an anti-terrorism measure, was under way on the MoD-owned road to Coulport.

MoD policeman Lachie Bain said: “Spot checks on the access road are ongoing.

“They are stopping two or three cars at a time. It will be random, there is no set pattern.”

He said there was ‘nothing sinister’ about the new measures, and Argyll and Bute councillor George Freeman said people should be reassured by the checks, while community council chairman Nick Davies said he had heard no complaints about the policy.

  1. I think the MOD police should be also checking up on the sailors that come into the town too.
My friend who is also disabled was beaten up by them.
Also trouble caused by them in the town, mainly when they go drinking. I have also been threatened with violence in the past year too.
Enough is enough. Something needs to be done.
