News in brief: Loch Lomond boat fire, cold caller charged, coffee fund-raiser

A child suffering from smoke inhalation was rescued from a boat which caught fire on Loch Lomond today.

The volunteer crew of the Lomond Rescue Boat were paged at 12.17 and were joined by a Coastguard helicopter as they rushed to be the boat which was 1.5 miles south of Luss.

With one adult and a child on board, an electrical fire had started on the boat.

The child was suffering from smoke inhalation and was taken onto the rescue boat and treated with oxygen by the crew.

Police have warned residents to beware of cold callers after a man was charged with illegally selling items door to door in the Cardross area on Thursday (January 21).

A coffee morning in Cove Burgh Hall will help raise funds for the village library and environmental work.

Organised by the Rosneath Peninsula Amenity Society, the event will start at 10am on Friday (January 29), with home baking and craft stalls available.
