A specialist in family and military history, Yvonne McEwen is leading the Scotland’s War project and will be giving a talk in Helensburgh library on Friday August 28 at 7pm.

The next day, from 10am to 1pm, residents are invited to bring along their family stories, artefacts and photographs of the war, either from front line or the home front, for help in identifying them and pointers about how to find more information online.

Helensburgh’s RNLI Lifeboat was called out to a capsized dinghy, which Belfast Coastguard said may have a possible broken mast, off the Greenock Ocean Terminal.

The lifeboat found the sailing dinghy had been taken in tow by a speedboat so escorted them back to East India dock.

The 14th Cove and Kilcreggan Real Ale Festival will be held on Saturday September 26th from 12 noon until 8pm.

There will be gold medal ales, food and music available, all in aid of the venue – Cove Burgh Hall, which is run by the local community.
