The Holdovers showing in Cove

Oscar -winning comedy drama The Holdovers is Cove and Kilcreggan Film Society’s final showing of the season.

Directed by Andrew Payne and starring Paul Giamatti, Da’Vine Joy Randolph and Dominic Sessa, it is set in 1970s New England, where  a grumpy prep school history teacher is forced to remain on campus over Christmas with the ‘holdovers’, those students unable to go home for the holidays.

After a few days, only one brilliant but wayward student, Angus, remains – he, Paul and Mary the school’s head cook, form an unlikely and darkly comic Christmas family.

The film was nominated for five Academy Awards this year, including best picture, and Randolph won best supporting actress.

Doors open at Cove Burgh Hall at 7.15 pm, with lights down at 7.45.

There will be a raffle with great prizes and free popcorn – bring your own bottle.
