The first public access defibrillator is now available on the Rosneath Peninsula.
The lifesaving device (pictured) is in a weather-proof cabinet at the entrance of Cove Burgh Hall.
It is the first of three due to be installed in a project organised by the Garelochhead and Rosneath Peninsula Community First Responders.
A spokesperson said: “Secured in the cabinet with a tamper-proof seal, the defibrillator is easily available to anyone to use where a heart attack is suspected.
“As with all public access defibrillators, the device is simple to use and safe.
“It will not provide a shock to the patient unless it is deemed necessary and cannot be manually overridden – the machine will take the operator through what is required and when.”
The clearly accessible cabinet is temperature-controlled and emits a flashing white light at night, with a red flashing light if it’s opened – it also contains other lifesaving equipment.
Additional defibrillators are due to be installed in Rosneath and Garelochhead, and the first responders are keen to add others if funds allow – for details of how you can help see this story.
