Could you tell readers about yourself, and why you’ve chosen to try and represent this ward?

I am delighted to have been selected to stand in the Lomond North Ward in the election on May 5, having been your Councillor previously from 2012 to 2017 before being elected as a Member of the Scottish Parliament.

I am strongly committed to local democracy and will do my best to represent you.

I support local democracy and shall  attend Community Councils to help  resolve local problems.

I shall hold resident surgeries to discuss your concerns face to face with me. I will also be a regular contributor to the Local Press.

Wherever you live in Lomond North, as your Councillor,  I shall help you  and to look after your interests on the Council.

Together the beautiful Lomond North Ward is safe with me.

What do you think are the three key issues in the future for the ward, and how close is your relationship with it?

Local issues are important  in Lomond North , pavements need repairing and there are  potholes in our roads .  Rural roads need white centre lines,  also  improved car Parking needs considered in our villages and Kilcreggan and Arrochar Piers  developed. I have seen much evidence of dog fouling and litter. More bins need to be provided and I will press for this as your Councillor. Keeping our Communities  Safe with more effective Community Policing.

Currently Argyll and Bute Council is run by TALIG – the Argyll, Lomond and the Islands Group, a coalition of Conservatives, Liberal Democrats and some independent councillors. If elected, would you join this group? Mr Corry did not respond to this question.

Currently the council is considering a ‘collectives’ system, which would see several schools share a headteacher and management team. Do you support this policy?

A big issue is the proposal to effectively appoint Area Head Teachers in School Clusters . The proposal is to be decided by the new Council. As it stands I do not and will not support it, I believe that a Head Teacher is vital for every school and is a widely respected member of the local community.
