Complaints over caravan park in Cove

Complaints about allegedly unauthorised work at a caravan site in Cove were voiced at a meeting this month.

Cove and Kilcreggan Community Council heard this month that trees had been cut down beside the B833, on land which is part of Auchengower Caravan Park.

New caravans have been installed there, although planning permission dating back to 2011 shows the site as a bin store.

An enforcement notice has been issued by Argyll and Bute Council citing alleged unauthorised works including the siting of new caravans and associated hardstanding without permission, erection of decking for caravans and the unauthorised demolition of a listed building.

And community councillors agreed to write a formal letter to Argyll and Bute indicating their concerns.

A member of the public told the meeting: “It is the entrance to the village – I think various people here have already written to the planners.

“Whatever they do, they’ve cut down those trees, those trees are gone. It was a really great screen.

“Lots of people here today are upset about it and I think they should be asked to replant it, at the very least.”
