Covid 19: Stay at home plea from peninsula doctors

Doctors in Kilcreggan have urged people to stay at home unless absolutely necessary after the village pharmacy had to close twice for extra cleaning.

Customers visited Boots on Monday either with symptoms or on behalf of a family member who was self-isolating.

Prescriptions can be collected by volunteers in the Garelochhead and Rosneath Peninsula Resilience team.

A statement on the Kilcreggan Medical centre’s Facebook page said: “We know the vast majority are following the ‘rules’ so can we ask you all to help us all by reminding everyone to please stay at home unless absolutely necessary, and if you are feeling unwell, or live with a relative who has Covid, or showing symptoms, then please stay at home.

“Boots staff are a vital part of our community and we need to keep them safe.”

The resilience team can be contacted via their Facebook page, by emailing john.webb3@yahoo.co.uk, or by calling Hughie Walsh on 07917 834356.

Latest figures from Public Health Scotland show that overall Covid-19 cases in Argyll and Bute are low compared to the rest of Scotland.

But the ‘Garelochhead’ neighbourhood, which includes the Rosneath Peninsula, again has the highest number of new cases – 20 in the seven days up to January 9, out of 79 in all of Argyll and Bute.
