Helensburgh’s Sugar Boat is AA Scottish Restaurant of the Year

The Sugar Boat in Helensburgh has been named the AA’s Scottish Restaurant of the Year.

The award was presented at a ceremony last  night at Grosvenor House, London, hosted by journalist and TV presenter Kate Silverton.

The annual AA Hospitality Awards aim to recognise the excellence of hotels, restaurants and their teams across the UK.

The Sugar Boat, which opened in Colquhoun Square two years ago, is named after a local landmark – the MV Captayannis, which sank during a storm in the Clyde in 1974.

In October last year it was one of only eight Scottish restaurants to be awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand award.
