Kilcreggan bus shelter may become ‘information hub’

An information hub for tourists and residents could be based in a Kilcreggan bus shelter.

The bus shelter is in the centre of the village

A laminated map, leaflets including walking guides and advertising for local businesses could all be housed in the building, Cove and Kilcreggan Community Council heard this week.

Chairman Nick Davies said the telephone box in the middle of the village had been suggested, but it wasn’t in the best location and was still in use.

“Subject to whoever owns it, it seems to me that that bus shelter has potential to be our information hub,” he said.

“If that is our solution we should aim to have something in place for next summer.”

Cllr George Freeman said he would try to find out if the bus shelter was owned by Argyll and Bute Council or Strathclyde Partnership for Transport.

And Mark Irvine said it was a great idea but there should be a discussion with Stephen Clayton, of Kilcreggan Post Office, who runs the Visit Kilcreggan website.

“Stephen has got his fingers on the pulse of everything that needs to be done,” he said.

“He just wants to do his Visit Kilcreggan stuff in tandem with what we do rather than separately.”
