Brownies send shoebox gifts to soldiers in Iraq for Christmas

Brownies on the Rosneath Peninsula have sent surprise Christmas presents to British armed forces personnel who will be in Iraq for the festive season.

The 1st Cove and Kilcreggan Brownies have packed 40 shoeboxes which were sent away via Rosneath Post Office last night.

The boxes contained gifts including Christmas crackers, sweets, toothpaste, toothbrushes, toiletries, party poppers and dried food.

Eight year-old Breagha Higgins, who is pictured right, was not in the main photograph as she was still helping to pack the boxes – she was named Brownie of the year in October.

Brownie leader Nicola Milne said: “I would like to say a massive well done to the Brownies for doing this – we managed to send more than expected, I am so proud of them.”
