A new classroom looks set to be built at Kilcreggan Primary School, with an outdated annexe being demolished

Argyll and Bute Council has submitted an application to demolish the current building, which is in the Cove and Kilcreggan conservation area.

And a council spokesman said an application for an additional classroom was expected to be validated soon.

“Both applications will be assessed on their merits against development plan policy and other material considerations,” he added.

The demolition application states: “The building is not fit for purpose and needs substantial works to bring it back to a suitable environment.

“The education authority are keen to bring the nursery children into the main school building to aid transition from nursery to school.”

Details can be found on the council website – the reference number for the demolition application is 17/03021 .
